Acorns to Oaks has been devised is to support families and communities to reconnect, taking grandparents who have been separated from their grandchildren throughout the pandemic as inspiration.
The project is free, with step-by-step activity suggestions and links to an accompanying film series, so that ideas for spending time together (in person, or virtually) are easily accessible in one place. CCC are the only organisation in Scotland solely dedicated to delivering tailor-made concerts for young people and have 25+ years’ experience of providing fun activities for primary school age children and families to help them engage and connect with music.
What is the project?
It’s been designed to:
- Suit pre-school / primary age children specifically, but participation from all ages is encouraged
- Promote outdoor play
- Inspire creativity
- Strengthen relationships between families and their communities, vital during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic
- Support mental health and well-being
- Be suitable both on and offline / virtually or in-person
- Offer flexibility – no set timeframe/limit, previous musical experience or instruments/materials necessary
Acorns to Oaks is part of CCC’s portal of resources; Music Sparks, in which everything is free to access. In addition to the free resource pack and films we can also offer this project (and of our other Music Sparks projects) as a series of live workshops in nurseries and primary schools (when current restrictions allow), allowing for direct interaction with CCC musicians, more personalised sessions and further expansion on the various activities.
