This week we have been learning how to write instructions.
The class discovered out that for instructions to be useful they needed:
- A title
- Lists of equipment and ingredients
- A method – in the correct order
- Useful words like verbs to tell us what to do
- Interesting words like adjectives and adverbs for more detail
- Pictures to help order the steps
After writing their own instructions on how to make a Valentine’s Biscuit, they had to follow their own recipes and see how useful they were when making their own biscuits.
Then they were creative and put their own designs on their boxes to take them home for someone special.
We had to use our literacy skills, and our communication skills when we were giving and receiving information from each other during our writing lesson.
“We made a good job of our recipes, and we were able to follow them to make our biscuits.” Gordon
“We enjoyed making them so much for us to give to our families.” Harry
This week we were also learning about internet safety. We made posters to instruct and advise people how to stay safe online.
Incredible Instructions
