Following an increase in coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Lanarkshire, additional restrictions have been introduced from midnight on 11 September 2020.

The restrictions apply to the Lanarkshire area and will be the same as for those already in place for people living in Glasgow City, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire.

What you can and cannot do

If you live the affected area you must not:
·        meet people from any other households indoors in your home socially, unless they are in your extended household.
·        make a social visit to people you do not live with in their home no matter where that is, unless they are in your extended household

You can:
·        travel in and out of Lanarkshire, for example to attend work
·        provide childcare in your home, for example to look after a grandchild – but you should take extra care with hygiene
·        meet people outside, for example in your garden or in public spaces – following the new guidelines of no more than 6 people from two households
·        meet people in cafes, pubs and restaurants, but try to ensure you stay in one place and follow the existing rules on eating and drinking out on maximum numbers and physical distancing
·        attend a hospital appointment

Test and Protect – Self-isolation
An additional measure is introduced in that if anyone is identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, their full household group should self-isolate for 14 days.

Schools and education
Schools and early learning/childcare settings are not affected by these measures

Work and services carried out in private homes
Council employees can continue to go into other people’s houses as required to carry out work, ensuring that existing work covid measures are applied.

These new measures are a challenge but if we all comply with these additional restrictions, we have a better chance of suppressing the spread of coronavirus and driving down the rate of transmission in Lanarkshire.  Coronavirus presents a serious risk to health and we all must do everything we can to minimise that risk.
