This week we have been exploring position and movement as well as grid references. We have used our Islands topic as a context to help us use directional instructions and describe the position of key places on the islands.

'The park should be next to the forest so you can play in it too. '

'The chemist can be between the doctors and the shops so you can get the medicine easily.' Brodie

When playing outside and creating our own group islands the boys and girls had then to direct each other from one place to another using the appropriate directional language.

'You need to go straight on  then left when the road goes into two.' Bobbi

'You need to turn round then go to the side....the right side.' Jackson

When learning about simple grid references we added items to an island on the C-touch. Then we did some written work and played some partner games to develop our skills.

'We need to go along first then up the way.' Harley

'I went along the bottom then counted up.' Cobyn
