Primary 3 have been learning about different ways to add 2 digit numbers together or onto 3 digit numbers.
We have explored partitioning numbers and then jumping along empty number lines in groups of ten and one to complete a calculation. We compared this to the split strategy of addition where the hundreds, tens and units of each number in the calculation are added separately.
Children have been asked to use their preferred method when completing different calculations.
