This week in our learning pods we have been......

The Red Pod

This week the red rod have explored simple forces, using cardboard boxes, magnetic sensory bottles and rocket straws. We spent time exploring the nursery garden showing an interest in the loose parts and Reading stories in the willow pod. We practiced our problem solving skills building 4 piece jigsaws and larger ones too. We made lots of different structures using the large bricks and dinosaurs to created a dinosaur world during free play.
The weather has been lovely and warm and we have spent a lot of time enjoying various outdoor areas.

The Purple Pod
This week the purple pod have been very busy learning about “the farm” we have listened to different stories including a squash and a squeeze and baby duck in the rain. Took part in conversations discussing our favourite farm animals. 
We practiced reciting old Mac Donald while playing with the parachute and took turns naming different farm animals 
Using the animals we were able to sort and match which animals belonged in the farm and which did not. 
Alongside the farm we have enjoyed Spending lots of time in the garden, muga and school playground, we even had our snack in the garden 😃

The Green Pod
This week in the green pod we have been further exploring our emotions and feelings, using stories to develop our understanding and make sense of different emotions. We read “Guess how much I love you”and “Colour monster” creating our own colour monster stones and we enjoyed time in the muga to role play scenarios to understand things that make us happy and what can make us calm or sad. This week we have also spent time in the nursery garden and grassy area to explore moving our bodies and taking part in energetic outdoor play. Tomorrow the weather looks to be nice again so we will get outdoors to enjoy the sunshine, please remember to put on sun cream.

The Yellow Pod
In the yellow and gold pod this week we have been further investigating shapes. We have explored around our pod and outdoors to see what shapes we can recognise, we have been have been reading shape stories, and doing some fit in piece jigsaws with some tricky shapes. We have also spent some time enjoying outdoor play in the nursery garden and the mugga.

The Blue Pod
This week in the blue pod, the children explored the colour monster story with Mrs Griffiths. The children and Mrs Griffiths created their own coloured emotion monsters and they are displayed beautifully in our blue pod. Towards the end of the week the children in the blue pod showed a keen interest in dinosaurs, they have spent time taking dinousaurs for walks. They used paint and the dinosaurs feet to make footprint patterns and collage materials with various other animal print paper. The children in the blue pod have had a busy week.

The Gold Pod
Isla has being enjoying using our outdoor playground space, Isla made a variety of different movements whilst observing her shadow. Isla really liked the coloured dots and could clearly identify green, red, yellow, blue, orange and pink.
