This week in our learning pods we have been learning.....

Red Pod
This week the red pod have been exploring numbers in a variety of ways. We played the 10 green bottle game, the teddy bear game, number fishing and a giant dot to dot number game. We have also spent time outdoors every day, using the climbing frame, bikes and loose parts to further develop our gross motor skills. We have mixed ingredients together to create playdough for sensory play. We like to play Simon says and read lots of stories like the stick man and What’s the time Mr Wolf.

Purple Pod
This week the purple pod have been exploring colours and shapes, When you are at the nursery please have a look at our pod window to see our amazing stain glass window shapes which we created using coloured cellophane and laminating pouches.
Outdoors we used the large coloured shapes to create marvellous structures and played a special shape version the floor is lava.
We even had a very colourful snack of peppers, cucumbers oranges and watermelon

Blue Pod
This week in the Blue pod we have been super busy exploring numbers 0 to 10. some children counting forwards or backwards. We used big cups and small cups and counted how many cups of pasta it took to fill the jugs or big tins.
The children use cereal hoops and counted them while placing them onto spaghetti sticks. This has been a favourite with some children asking to do this again!
The Blue group enjoyed a paper version of adding marbles to a jar. Adding and subtracting, counting the marbles to get the number on the jar. some of the children worked in pairs with a friend to help each other to find the right amount.

The Green Pod
This week in the green pod we have been investigating shapes and colours. We have been playing a selections of games to develop our recognition of shapes and colours and created our own stained glass shapes. We have spent time investigating and identifying shapes in our surrounding environment and identifying familiar objects of the same colour. We used materials to make our own shapes such as coloured lollipops stick and wool to explore the sides of a shape. We have also spent time participating in energetic outdoor play both in our nursery garden and muga pitch.

The Yellow Pod
On Monday and Tuesday the yellow/gold pod have been exploring numbers. We searched for number shells in the sand, used the number stones to sequence, made pictures with the number stampers along with reading books with numbers and number jigsaws. We also worked on reciting numbers 0-10!
We all helped to complete our Numbers floorbook and we wanted to share this with you!
On Wednesday and Thursday we have been exploring the story of Goldilocks and the three bears, we are beginning to discuss characters and key events. We will continue to explore this story, making some puppets/props to encourage retelling the story and discussing the beginning, middle and end.

Have a lovely weekend
