This week we have been learning.......

Red Pod
This week we have been learning the days of the week rhyme. We Talked about the amount of days in each week and we watched and listened to videos on CBebbies about the days of the week. We spent time exploring the nursery garden playing the floor is lava and building tall towers with the coloured blocks. We noticed that the leaves are falling from the trees in lots of different shades, we collected some when we were playing in the MUGA pitch, we are going to use these next week when we look more in-depth at the season of Autumn.

Purple pod
This week the purple pod have continued to explore colours, paying particular interest to mixing primary colours to make different colours, we have explored mixing colours through paint, Placing coloured cellophane on the light box In the dark sensory tent and a fun skittles experiment.

Blue pod
This week has been a short week in the nursery but that doesn’t mean the children in the Blue group were less busy!
They have still enjoyed playing number games together, taking turns and helping each other.
The children have noticed the leaves have turned brown and fallen from the trees so this inspired them to look around the outdoor for leaves and bring them into the nursery to play. Some children even made sticky pictures using the leaves, wouldn’t you agree they look amazing?
We are going to continue looking at nursery rhymes (spoken as we are not allowed to sing) and using our hands to clap out the syllables. Ask the children to show you and check out their videos if they were in nursery on that day. This week we practised Hickery Dickery Dock.
You may have heard your child talk about the fire station, they have looked at fire service books and a fire engine jigsaw.

Yellow/Gold Pod
The Yellow and Gold group have been exploring different weather types and seasons. Using language from the bear hunt book we have been participating in some sensory activities linked to the story. The children have also enjoyed looking at our weather sensory bottles and participating in discussions, alongside contributing to changing our calendar board each day.

Green Pod
This week in the green pod we have been continuing to work on our shapes and colour recognition. We have spent time reading and further exploring “Wow said the owl” creating our owl pictures using a selection of different sized shapes including circles, triangle, diamond and ovals. We have also explored the story “Bunny and Bee’s Rainbow Colours”, both our stories have featured rainbows and we have further expanded our learning by introducing the nursery rhyme “I can sing a rainbow” and creating our own rainbows using a selection of collage material. Please see the link below if you would like to sing a long with your child at home.

Have a lovely weekend
