Our learning week 17.11.20-20.11.20

The Red Pod
This week in the red pod we have participated in Nursery Rhyme week and Scottish book week.
We participated in reciting the following rhymes, Wheels on the bus, 5 Little Speckled Frogs, Hickory Dickory Dock, Old MacDonald had a Farm and Miss Polly.
We listened to lots of stories including The Stickman, The Disgusting Sandwich and Dinosaurs love underpants.
We made a reading river using paper and large tubs, which we sat in to read our favourite books.
We made props to support our learning of the nursery rhymes and favourite stories.

Yellow Pod
This week our focus has been on nursery rhymes. In addition to this we have learned some Makaton signs. Here we are signing book. Ask me what other signs we have been learning. Pig? Cow? Duck? Sheep?

Inspired by nursery rhyme week, today’s focus has been Hickory, dickory dock. The experience planned gave the children an opportunity to explore different shapes. Oval, circle and triangle. This is our little mice that ran up the clock. We hope you like them? We also participated in listening to the Hickory, dickory doke rhyme.

The purple pod
This week we are celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week and Scottish Book Week.
Our Story focus was ‘While We Can’t Hug’ this story centres around a hedgehog and a tortoise who are not allowed to hug (to reflect on these difficult times)
We watched as Lynn told the story in Makaton, and we discussed how the characters may have been feeling. This inspired us to think of different ways we can communicate with the other pods, we wrote them letters and drew pictures.

Our nursery rhymes included ‘Wheels on the Bus’ ‘5 Little Speckled Frogs” ‘Hickory Dickory Doc” and ‘Old Mac Donald’ We preformed Makaton actions to each Rhyme. Used the loose parts to make our very own bus and made Hickory’s clock using number stampers.

The green pod
This week we have been taking part in Nursery Rhyme week and Scottish book week.
We have learned the nursery rhymes Wheels on the bus, 5 Little Speckled Frogs, Hickory Dickory Dock, Old MacDonald had a Farm and took part in a variety of experiences to further develop our understanding.
We have explored making tyre tracks using black paint and toy cars to recreate the wheels of the bus and created a bus with loose parts and enjoyed singing the song whilst driving our bus.
We pretended to be speckled frogs and took turns of eating delightful bugs then jumping off the speckled log into the pool, where it was nice and cool.
To retell the nursery rhyme ‘Hickory, dickory, dock’ we created mice and a clock and each took turns to let our mouse run up the clock.
We learned the nursery rhyme ‘Old McDonald had a farm’. We used cooking ingredients to make mud, then we had to find an animal in the mud and sing the correct lyrics for ‘Old McDonald’.
