Red Pod
We’ve had a busy week exploring the outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. We have spent time using our imagination and sailing in our new canoe in the nursery garden. We pedalled bikes and used loose parts to make climbing equipment, we explored forces using pump rockets. We received a letter from Bertie the beetle asking for help to build him a new house, we went on a bug hunt and found lots of different mini beasts, we made them a new bug hotel and then placed it in the school garden. We read a story called Yucky worms and learned new facts about mini beasts.

Green Pod
This week we have participated in a variety of activities to develop our gross motor skills. We spent time in the gym hall following instructions to manoeuvre our bodies practicing our jumping, hopping, balancing, throwing and catching as well as using a bean bag to develop our understanding and ability to follow positional language. In the garden and muga we further developed our gross motor skills by using the climbing frame to practice our climbing and balancing as well as using the bikes and scooters to work and further strengthen our big muscles.

Blue Group
This week I have been exploring numerals 0-10 to develop my recognition.
I have been exploring numbers, understanding that they represent quantities and beginning to use them to count and create sequences and describe order. I have also been using resources to count forwards and backward and experimenting with various materials to mark make.

Yellow Group
This week the yellow pod have been exploring mathematical language, we have investigated a range of different objects that we could use to fill or empty the water and porridge oats, while doing this the children were using a range of language such as more and full, they were also predicting how many cups it might take to fill the measuring tube. When playing with the play dough the children have been exploring comparative language such as longer and shorter and we also used the tubes to explore trajectory play.

Purple Group
This week the children in the purple pod have been exploring different ways to mark make, we used tools including chalk, pens, pencils, paintbrushes and even our fingers to create shapes, letter and patterns in different materials such as, the ground and walls, shaving foam, gelli bath and sand.

Gold Pod
This week we have been exploring sounds and letter recognition focusing on their own names. We played a fishing game to match uppercase letters as well as watching Geraldine giraffe who help with letter sounds. We had fun in the MUGA chasing rockets.

Have a lovely weekend
