This is what the children have been playing with, learning about and exploring in the following areas:

Literacy: Continuing on from the children’s interests in stories we looked at Stickman. We were mark making with drawing pictures and writing letters to Sickmans family.

Maths/STEM: We have been developing our numeracy skills using a variety of loose parts to quantify numbers to 10. We explored sequencing numbers using number songs with puppets.

Creative: We have explored the changing weather is week, we collected snow from the nursery garden and explored it in the tuff tray, using our imagination and creativity. We learned a little bit about St Andrews day, we created our own Scotland flag using coloured rice. We also has a special visit from Elfie, he was late arriving in nursery due to the snow.

Outdoors: We have explored the snowy winter weather, mark making and drawing in the snow. We used our bodies to create snow angels. We developed out gross and fine motor skills using small equipment including stilts, bean bags, and small rings.

Role Play: Some children were pretending to create pizzas in the home corner, we discussed what we needed to create pizza Restaurant, we added ingredients and a pizza oven.

Construction/Small world: Applying Goldie
ocks into our small world area has encouraged further imagination in the recreation of the story. We explored the Three Billy Goats Gruff, creating a bridge and developing our balancing skills.

Don't forget to check your child’s learning journals for some more insights into their learning in nursery.

Have a lovely weekend
