This is what the children have been playing with, learning about and exploring in the following areas:

Literacy: We have been writing letters to Santa, practicing our mark making skills. The boys and girls asked for Christmas pictures to colour.

Maths/STEM: We have had some STEM Christmas fu. We created a Christmas jingle maz, explored ice and counted with our elves.

Creative:  We have explored lots of Christmas activities, we created ‘magic’ reindeer dust with a little help from our Christmas elf.

Outdoors:  We have been exploring ice in our outdoor water tray discussing why the water turned to ice. We attempted to create ice baubles but it wasn’t cold enough and the baubles didn’t freeze. We created Christmas trees using branches and ribbon.

Role Play: The children have enjoyed exploring the home corner AKA Santa’s Workshop. We have been busy helping Santa wrap Christmas presents.

Construction/Small world:  We have explored Christ,as activities. Our Christmas elf has visited us everyday with a new activity for us to try, including making Santa’s sleigh out of blocks and using blocks to decorate a Christmas tree. In the small world we created the polar express using the train track and with a variety of blue and white art resources for ice and snow.

As we continue to do what we can to ensure the best experiences for you and your children, we would really appreciate if Nursery parents and carers could fill out the short feedback form linked. It should take no longer than two minutes to complete, and any comments would be very much appreciated.
