This is what the nursery children have been playing with, learning about and exploring in the following areas:
Literacy: We have been exploring launguage in connection with insects and space- applying our letter recognition to a variety of opportunities.
Math/STEM: In the Stem area we have been exploring the solar system, we have played with the space related tuff tray, moon sand and space sensory bottles. We made our own planets to display on the wall in the correct order and we made telescopes to explore the moon and the stars.
Construction/Small World: Following the children’s interests in bugs/insects we have been creating and designing bug houses using junk modelling materials and loose parts.
Outdoors: We have been learning all about different insects. We went on a bug hunt and found different insects at nursery. We then created our own bug hotel for all the insects that we found outside.
Creative: This week we have explored ingredient
s to create play dough using and applying our prior knowledge. We explored printing with real fruit and vegetables using our imagination and creating our own pictures.
Snack: This week we have been developing our understanding and awareness on the importance of hand washing. We experimented with paint to explore how germs are easily spread and then used this to develop our hand washing technique.
