This is what the nursery children have been playing with, learning about and exploring in the following areas:

Literacy:  This week we have continued to explore and learn about Fairtrade. We looked at where the produce is farmed and how it is processed. We looked at the formation of different Fairtrade words and created Fairtrade logos.

Maths and STEM: This week we have started to explore electricity. We used our knowledge to sort objects into categories of ‘needs electricity to work’ and ‘does not need electricity to work’. We took part in activities to create static electricity and how this affects different objects. We discovered information about how electricity is made and how it travels to our homes and also how to stay safe around electricity.

Creative: We have been exploring the story of ‘The Disgusting Sandwich’. We created our own disgusting sandwiches on paper and then used bread, breadcrumbs, water, paint, glitter and feathers to recreate the different parts of the story. We then decided to make some gloop to explore too.

Outdoors: We were creating our own games including football and different races. The children used their imaginations to create their own rules and game objectives. We have also been busy creating recipes using real food in our mud kitchen.

Snack: We applied our culinary skills in the kitchen this week to prepare snack for the nursery. We also made banana pancakes to enjoy with butter and jam. In connection with World Book Day, we enjoyed ‘Mr Wolf’s pancakes’.

Don’t forget to check your child’s learning journals for some more insights into their learning in nursery.
