P6 have been out and about again today! This time we visited Lanark Auction Market for their 'food and farming' event.
We saw and learned lots from a beef cow and calf, an auction, vegetable growing, sheep shearing, dairy cow and produce, horse and tractor and even saw other sheep and pigs.
Freya, "We went to watch how an auction worked and I got to be an auctioneer. I sold 2 sheep to Marley."
Charley, "I learned that pigs are pregnant for 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days!"
Tiffany, "I learned that as soon as a piglet is born, it can stand up."
Cody, "I learned that the tractor there was 180 horse power."
Callum, "I learned that it costs £1 to shear a sheep."
John, "A sheep shearer can make up to £2000 a week if they're really good at it."
Chloe, " I learned that a cow has 4 stomachs."
Mark, "They used to use horses in the olden days but now they use tractors."
