Primary 4 have been learning more about time this week. Today we researched how people told the time before clocks. 
" They just looked at the sun and where it was in the sky."
"People used the shadows from the sun on sun dials."
" The sticky up bit on a sun dial is called a gnomon."
" They marked lines on a candle and knew how long it was when it burned down."
"The Egyptians thought of a day having 24 hours"
" People called the Babylonians thought of the 60 seconds and 60 minutes because they counted in 60s!"
