What a busy few weeks we've had in Primary 2!

📸 Photo 1: With the help of Mr Currie and some of the Primary 7 children, we learned how to use different gardening tools to weed and tidy up our garden area. We made sure to protect the plants and discard of any rubbish that had made its way into our garden.

📸 Photo 2: On World Book Day, we spent some time reading some of our favourite books with Primary 6. We also watched a live author stream and got to listen to them reading their new book! Afterwards, we got creative and designed our own 'Book Bots' to showcase our love of reading.

📸 Photo 3: On Monday, we attended the church for their annual 'Easter Code'. We learned all about the Easter Story and even enjoyed some yummy pancakes! We wanted to say a huge thank you to Karen and the other helpers at the church for our fantastic morning.

📸 Photo 4: As it is STEM week, we have been doing lots of learning through Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Using the iPads, we coded some programmes to help a virtual fire engine find a fire and extinguish it! We also conducted a super science experiment to see which type of paper towel was the most 'absorbent' and which type mixed the blue and red food colouring best to make purple. We also had lots of fun programming our Beebot (named Bob) to reach different spots on our carpet.

📸 Photo 5: Continuning with our STEM learning, we used the context of our Social Studies topic, Knights and Castles, to explore the engineering behind drawbridges. We learned about the purpose of a drawbridge and also how they function. Afterwards, we designed and created our own castles using recycled materials and then applied our learning to engineer our very own working drawbridges! How cool is that?
