This is what we have been playing with, learning about and exploring in the following areas:

literacy: We have been exploring the story of “The Gruffalo’s Child”, we discussed our favourite characters and parts of the story. We used our mark making skills to draw our favourite characters, recalling where they lived.

Maths and STEM: This week we have been creating and sequencing patterns in a variety of ways including pattern games on the C-touch and creating our own pattern using loose parts.

Creative: Exploring further with mark making, discovering numbers and understanding numbers represent quantities.

Outdoors: We have been learning traditional outdoor games, exploring new vocabulary and developing our listening and communication skills. We have played What’s the time Mr Wolf, Hopscotch, I spy, Farmer Farmer, Simon Says and a variety of parachute games.

Roleplay: We have been learning about the role of a library, learning about how we can borrow books and the process. We also created our own book shop in nursery, talking about costs and money.

Construction/Small world: We have been exploring the story of Goldilocks and the three bears, using a range of building materials to create the different size of chairs and beds and the small world to recreate events from the story.

Dont forget to check your child’s learning journal for some more insights into their learning in nursery.

Have a lovely weekend
