This is what the children have been playing with, learning about and exploring in the following areas:

Literacy: We have explored our feelings and talked about Valentines Day, making cards and pictures for the people we love. We have listed to and sang along to a song called ‘Happy Place’, we hope you liked it.

Math/STEM: We have explored and compared weight. We used a variety of different scales to find out the weight of objects, we then explored if the items would sink or float.

Creative:  We explored Valentines Daythrough a variety of experiences. We created salt dough gifts, made pictures and developed our fine motor skills.

Outdoors: We continue to develop our gross motor skills outdoors, through racing, jumping, hopscotch and balance bikes. on Thursday we explored the snow using a sledge to push and pull our peers to further develop our gross motor skills.

Role Play:  We have discussed and  learned about each other’s families and the roles of each family member.  We explored the past, looking at old photographs of each other and trying to guess who is who. The children applied their prior knowledge and thinking skills to help them identify each photograph. We laughed a lot at the ladies baby photographs. Thank you for joining in and sending in baby photos.

Snack: We are continuing to learn and practice following  the new snack routine. We focused on the role of the snack helper.

Don’t forget to check your child’s learning journals for some more insights into their learning in nursery.

Reminder: We are closed Monday14th and Tuesday 15th for February break and also Wednesday 16th for inservice day. Children return to nursery on Thursday 17th February.

Have a lovely long weekend
