As part of our Weather topic, we wanted to find out the different ways that we can record the weather. We learned that a rain gauge records rainfall and that an anemometer records wind speed.

Each day we have been recording the temperature in Forth on a chart in the classroom. This week we have had a go at making our own rain gauges using plastic bottles. We marked the measurements onto the side of the bottle using measuring jugs to make sure we had written it accurately.

As a class we decided that outside on the fence where there is no shelter would be the best way to get an accurate picture of the rainfall. We are going to record the amount of rainfall throughout October onto a calendar and then use the infromation in our Data Handling.

You can have a look at our rain gauges up on the fence beside the school enterance but please don't touch them.
