Term 1 in Primary 1 was really busy, but we had lots and lots of fun! 😀

In our first 6 weeks we were learning about rhyme, alliteration and syllables through our FLIPP lessons. During this we explored minibeasts, fairytales, food and healthy eating, Scotland and castles, space, and farms.

We have also been developing our sharing and communication skills, learning to use our words when we want to share information or to ask for help.

Our first term involved lots of mark making.  Learning how to use our pencil properly and being able to add detail to our pictures to make them interesting.

Here are what some of the class enjoyed most in term one…

‘I liked the spaceship and pretending to fly with my friends.’
‘My favourite was measuring the big beanstalks (sunflowers) with the big boys and girls in the playground.’
‘I can write my name now.’
‘I liked the castle in the classroom because it was really big and cool.’
‘I like playing with the babies and looking after them.  They need cuddles and stories.’
‘My favourite is the animals. I like them.’
‘We have all been good at sharing and caring.’
‘I know that caterpillar has 4 syllables….ca…ter…pill…ar!’
‘I love the playdoh and getting to make minibeasts and aliens with it with funny eyes.’
‘We saw the big balloons and parachute things (paragliders) in the sky and got to draw some carefully.’
‘We know 2 of our sounds now…..c and a…..c for cat and a for arm.’
