As part of STEM week we have been doing some science experiments and coding.
We tried invisible ink messages, using lemon juice, paper and cotton buds. We wrote secret messages and then applied heat to make the message appear. We tried to use Mrs Andrews’s hairdryer, but it wasn’t hot enough. Some of us manged to make our messages appear after they got home using irons and straighteners. When the heat reacts with the lemon juice the writing appears. It is very cool.
Another experiment we tried was bending water! We created static electricity on a ballon, by rubbing it on our jumpers and on a plastic comb by combing dry hair. When we moved the items closer to the flow of water the water molecules were attracted to the negative charge from the balloon. It is a super easy and fun experiment to try. Why not have a go at home?
In class we have been exploring science linked to living things, like seed growth and food chains. We have been developing lots of skills this week, including resilience, adapting, listening and working with others.
We also used the I-pads to explore coding games. They were fun and educational, we used our ICT skills as well as our problem solving and creativity to reach each new level.
