It has been great to have everyone back in class after our Easter holidays.
We have a busy term ahead.  Here is a wee snap shot of what P1 will be learning about.

Maths & Numeracy
- We will be continuing to work on addition and subtraction and we will be applying this knowledge in other areas like money, measurement and data handling.
- We will be learning about money, what it is used for, recognising all coins from 1p-£2 and we will be using money to pay for items.

Literacy
- This term we are beginning to look at some of our sounds that use 2 letters to make the sound (eg. sh and ch)
- We will be continuing to practise our tricky words (reading and writing them).
- In writing we are building independence in using word banks and lists when writing sentences and stories, not forgetting our core targets - finger spaces, letters on the line with correct formation, capital letters and punctuation.
- In reading we are using our knowledge of sounds and tricky words to find meaning in our books, which will help us order events correctly and answer questions about the stories.

HWB
-PE - Tuesdays and Wednesdays - Fitness & Summer games with Mrs Hall and ball control skills with Mrs Andrews.
-We will be learning about the various food groups and discussing how to make healthy choices.
-We will be learning about people who help us in school and within the community.  We will also be learning about way that we can show kindness and help each other in class.
-Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (whole school focus).

IDL (Interdisciplinary Learning)
- We will be learning about the shops and services that a local community needs.  We will be doing this through the context of Katy Morag.  This will also allow us to dip into some mapping, learning about what an island is and what various modes of transport we could use to access an island too.
